Avnet Technology Solutions’ NetworkPath workshop drives growth for networking partners in the SDN space

SYDNEY, 25 June 2014 - Avnet Technology Solutions, the global IT solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), held their NetworkPath workshop last month in Sydney as part of the Avnet SolutionsPath program. SolutionsPath is a global program that empowers channel partners to penetrate new market verticals and technology areas that have been targeted as growth opportunities. Avnet developed this in-depth enablement program to support high-growth HP partners who are focused on accelerating growth in their Software Defined Networking (SDN) business.
Fifteen business partners attended the HP-sponsored one-day session, which was designed for business savvy sales, pre-sales and solution architects. During the session, acclaimed sales coach John Butel from Organised Solutions, worked with attendees to demonstrate the business value this technology can offer to key contacts within their customers. They were also introduced to high-impact selling strategies and resources that allow cross-supplier solutions.

Presenters from HP included Wojtek Malewski, CTO, HP Networking, HP South Pacific, who spoke on simplifying, scaling and automating the network through HP’s SDN solution; and Gavin Judd, HPFS channel manager, who delved into how partners can improve profitability by using HP Financial Services.

Since 2007, HP Networking has been leading the SDN space and has provided organisations with open standards-based SDN solutions. HP now has 30 million Open-Flow ports in its customer base. HP VAN SDN Controller is one the most downloaded SDN controllers in the market, enabling customers to explore new business models and align their networks with business goals and compelling economics. HP customers and partners have access to HP’s comprehensive SDN ecosystem, including the software development kit and SDN Applications.

Winston Wong, northern region sales manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, demonstrated the Avnet resources available to accelerate partners’ activity in this area, such as dedicated Business Development Managers and HP Solution Architects skilled in growing SDN portfolios. He emphasised that Avnet SolutionsPath is not simply a training session but a holistic approach to accelerating partner growth and driving market value on a continuing basis.

Feedback from the event has been highly positive with two further components of the program to follow. Neil Ramsay from Ktech Solutions expressed his satisfaction post event, “[I have] been in the industry since 1977 and this was the best event thus far."
